Overview

What Acid AEO does for a WordPress site, who it is for, and how its modules share one set of settings so nothing drifts.

Updated 2026-10-08 · applies to Acid AEO 1.0.4

Acid AEO makes a WordPress site readable, quotable and citable by AI engines such as ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews.

What it does

The plugin publishes what AI engines look for and gives you the controls over it. It works in four families:

  • AI readiness files: llms.txt, llms-full.txt, humans.txt, ai.txt, ai-context.json and security.txt.
  • One crawler policy: a single choice of what AI crawlers may do, written consistently to robots.txt, ai.txt, the Content-Signal header and llms.txt.
  • Rich data: one JSON-LD graph covering the organization, the site, pages, articles, people and FAQs.
  • Discovery and measurement: IndexNow submission, AI citation tracking and a readiness audit that scores the site and fixes most of what it finds.

Who it is for

Site owners and agencies who want a working setup in about three minutes, through a guided wizard. Developers who want to change the output: every generated file and graph piece can be filtered, see the Developers page.

One source of truth

Every module reads the same settings object, and the wizard writes it. Change your organization name or description once and llms.txt, humans.txt, the JSON-LD graph and ai-context.json all change together. The crawler policy works the same way, so robots.txt and ai.txt cannot disagree. The Modules page lists each module and what it reads.

What it does not do

  • It does not rewrite your content, and it makes no calls to external AI services.
  • It does not track visitors. Citation tracking records AI crawler fetches and visits from answer engines, without cookies or stored IP addresses. See the Privacy page.
  • It does not replace an SEO plugin. Where Yoast, Rank Math, SEOPress, AIOSEO, The SEO Framework or Slim SEO already emits a piece of structured data, Acid AEO steps aside. See Troubleshooting.

Where to start

  1. Install the plugin.
  2. Run the setup wizard (about three minutes).
  3. Read your score on the audit screen and apply the suggested fixes.
  4. Open /llms.txt on your site to confirm it is served.

A two-minute video covers the same path, from the directory install to the first audit: watch the setup.
